Priti takes to the ring to raise vital charity funds...

A dedicated member of the Stewart Miller & Peter James Insurance team donned her gloves and stepped into the ring during one of the UK's biggest charity boxing challenges.

Priti Modi, who joined the team as a Commercial Account Handler in June, took part in the Ultra White Collar Boxing charity event on Saturday (November 28th).

The 34 year-old was one of 32 daring competitors, who took to the ring in front of 1,000 spectators at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The event invited novices to take part, get fit, meet other business professionals and learn about boxing, whilst generating funds for charity. It was the culmination of a gruelling, eight-week intensive training programme for Priti, who, along with her female opponent, was the first to take to the ring for the opening bout of the evening - featuring three, two-minute rounds before the scores were added up and the winner named.

Although Priti did not win her fight, she raised an impressive £800 for Cancer Research UK, and despite ending the bout with a cut lip, said it had all been worth it to support such a worthy charity. "It has been very hard work and extremely tiring, but it is such a rewarding feeling to have completed the challenge and raised valuable funds for such an important cause, one which is very close to my heart." She explained. "My colleagues have all been very generous with sponsorship and donations and have been extremely supportive from the very beginning. I have made some great friends and good business contacts along the way, though I do think I might be taking a rest from boxing for a while now!" Peter James, director of Stewart Miller & Peter James Insurance said; "We are all very proud of Priti and were delighted to sponsor her. She showed great dedication and commitment to the cause, which is mirrored through her work – she is a real asset to our team."

A member of the Birmingham Insurance Institute, Priti is already planning to organise a similar event for fellow institute members, pitting insurance brokers against insurers, sometime in 2016.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to Priti's challenge can still do so -
